Funky and vibrant urban sanctuary
Popular plate: The Air Lounge restaurant and bar features nouvelle Greek/Mediterranean cuisine mostly sourced from Athens’ central market, as well as skyline views.
Fun and bold, Fresh Hotel is quite something, encapsulating contemporary minimalism in all of its details – from the brightly coloured Plexiglas façade, right down to the Charles Eames chairs. But what really gives this boutique hotel an edge over its competitors is its trendy centrepiece: the glorious rooftop terrace, plunge pool and lounge, offering sweeping, wraparound views of the Parthenon, the Acropolis, and a whole host of city sights.
Located in the up-and-coming area of Psiri, just a few minutes walk from the 19th century central market and ten minutes from Monastiraki and Plaka, the streets surrounding the hotel are hectic and authentic, but can appear a little seedy at night. Don’t let that put you off, but do try to request a room on the higher floors, further away from the street noise. All in all, this is an excellent and affordable option in the heart of the city.
