Cavernous no-frills downtown concert venue
Word to the wise: Chairs are few and far between, so wear comfortable shoes (they're better for dancing, too).
Known for years as "The Home of the Blues", Antone's is now also home to country, bluegrass and alt-rock. Founded by Clifford Antone in 1975, the club has survived several address changes, as well as Antone's passing in 2006. A lifelong blues fanatic with an encyclopedic knowledge of the genre, Antone played host to blues icons such as Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker, and gave Stevie Ray Vaughan a place to develop his craft.
While Austin blues performers still appear regularly, the line-up is usually a mix of mid-level touring acts and local bands playing everything from reggae to rock 'n' roll.
