Louche, late-night cocktail joint
Tipple of choice: Staff will be able to conjure up just about any concoction you’re after, but ask for Abuela’s Daiquiri; a tangy libation laced with lime jam and walnut.
Word to the wise: The place is small, smokey, and there’s no air conditioning so be prepared to feel the heat in the summer months – regulars like to take their drinks outside when it all gets a bit much.
Widely considered to be Vienna’s best barman, Roberto Pavlovic honed his considerable cocktail skills at the classically charming Loos Bar, before gathering up his bevy of followers and going it alone with this excellent eponymous bar in 2014.
On first inspection, the vibe is old school dark and decadent, with black velvet booths and a spectacular freshwater pearl chandelier draped over the entire bar, yet the attitude is thoroughly modern, from the innovative interpretations of cocktails to the infectiously affable service.
Slick staff are totally on the ball (you’ll have a drink in hand practically the second you walk in), whilst the bar’s diminutive size encourages a mixed bag of punters to get up close and personal. Perfect if you fancy making some pals.
